Spotted Sandpiper at Westwood Pool, Worcestershire - May 2011

A Spotted Sandpiper was discovered at Westwood Pool by Wayne Dutton on May 3rd. It represents the long anticipated first county record of this American wader.

Although the site is strictly private, special access was hastily arranged and fortunately the bird, which was in full summer plumage, performed well to a procession of visiting birders throughout the day.
